Located in Long Beach, California, Rosie’s Dog Beach is a popular destination for locals and tourists. Dogs and their human companion enjoy a 2.9-acre stretch of beach off the coast of the Pacific Ocean. In addition, the beach equips itself with dog waste bags in a dispenser and a wash area.

Southern California’s warm climate makes this place a welcome escape for both you and your dog. Even if you don’t have a dog, the beach is still a great spot to relax and watch the dogs frolic in the water.

The beach owes its name to a beloved local bulldog named Rosie, who captured the hearts of many in the Long Beach community. Justin Rudd, Rosie’s human, worked tirelessly to create an off-leash dog area on the beach, which eventually became a reality. Today, the beach stands as a testament to Rosie’s legacy and the enduring bond between humans and their dogs.

Since Rosie’s Dog Beach is located within the popular Granada Beach, it often hosts many events especially during the weekends. If you find that the beach is full, but you’re dead-set on going to the beach with your dog, we recommend checking out Huntington Dog Beach which is another popular dog-friendly beach.

happy beach-goer

We had a lot of fun here. The dogs look soooo happy to play in such a big space. It’s fun to watch them run and play in the water.

My only issue is that there’s only one water fountain and wash area close to the dog beach. Bring a towel and lots of fresh water for your pup!
